Projects

CCBR typically has 15-20 ongoing projects and has completed over 500 projects since 1982. Each project is guided by our commitment to impacting social change in practical and powerful ways. We conduct research with people not on people, cultivating respect with communities at every step of the process.

Projects can be searched for using words from the project title or using the service area, theme, or date range for the project. You can also type 'Service Area' or 'Theme' into the search bar to get a list of options in each of these fields.

A collaborative project led by the University of Waterloo that co-created futures thinking tools in collaboration with institutions across Southern Africa in countries impacted by rapidly intensifying cyclones (Mozambique, Madagascar, South Africa, and Zimbabwe). To realize the goal of integrating regenerative futures thinking within planning for cyclone adaptation, this project had the following objectives:

      • O1: Developed a multi-sector partnership focused on sustainable urban development under the strain of climate hazards in Southern Africa.
      • O2: Identified the role of futures thinking as a strategic means of incorporating long-term sustainable development targets into short-term cyclone adaptation approaches.
      • O3: Evaluated the application of Artificial Intelligence in strategizing cyclone response and sustainable development in Southern African cities.
      • O4: Mobilized policy tools for strategizing cyclone response and recovery via Generative Artificial Intelligence applications premised on futures thinking.
