CCBR typically has 15-20 ongoing projects and has completed over 450 projects since 1982. Each project is guided by our commitment to impacting social change in practical and powerful ways. We conduct research with people not on people, cultivating respect with communities at every step of the process.

Projects
This project, completed in collaboration with the Chartwell Group, identified pre-arrival services tailored to the needs of potential immigrants that will facilitate their entry into Ontario’s labour market and the broader community. The project was funded by the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration via Chartwell Inc.
This 3-year systems change evaluation examined the activities and outcomes of the Waterloo Region Immigrant Employment Network (WRIEN) in order to determine the extent to which a collaborative, multi-stakeholder, and region-wide process strengthened immigrant lives, the local economy, and the community at large.
CCBR conducted annual evaluations of Community Action Program for Children (CAPC) programs designed to support families and children (from birth to 6 years of age) in the Waterloo Region. Included were programs supporting New Canadian families.
This community needs and resource assessment mobilized residents and community partners in an effort to identify means to strengthen the Paulander community. The assessment was funded by City of Kitchener, United Way of KW and Area, and KW Community Foundation.
This policy research project helped Capacity Canada to better understand the Access to Professions and Trades (APT) processes across Canada and determine which components could be standardized at the national level. The project was funded by Capacity Canada and the Council of Agencies Serving South Asians.
CCBR conducted this one-year action research project in partnership with Wilfrid Laurier University. The purpose of this project was to use Waterloo Region as a case study to explore factors that maximize positive outcomes (both social and academic) for immigrant youth in high school. The study was funded by SSHRC.
An organizational review assessed current and emerging needs of refugee claimants, identified existing support services in the community, and developed a strategic plan that strengthens the role and effectiveness of the Coalition in its support of refugee claimants. This review was funded by Ontario Trillium Foundation.
The purpose of this five-year project was to use a participatory approach to explore how best to provide community-based mental health services and supports that would be effective for people from culturally diverse backgrounds. This community development project developed the necessary infrastructure to launch an Immigrant Employment Council in Waterloo Region. The project was funded by KW Community Foundation (Jim & Susan Hallman Fund, TD Canada Trust Mery Lahn Community Development Fund), McDonald Green, Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, Communitech, Canada’s Technology Triangle, Inc, Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce, and CCBR.
