Projects

CCBR typically has 15-20 ongoing projects and has completed over 500 projects since 1982. Each project is guided by our commitment to impacting social change in practical and powerful ways. We conduct research with people not on people, cultivating respect with communities at every step of the process.

Projects can be searched for using words from the project title or using the service area, theme, or date range for the project. You can also type 'Service Area' or 'Theme' into the search bar to get a list of options in each of these fields.

The Centre for Community Based Research (CCBR) partnered with the Knowledge Development and Exchange (KDE) Hub to support the Youth Substance Use Prevention Program (YSUPP). CCBR contributed its expertise in community-based research and capacity-building by participating in national community of practice on youth substance use prevention. A key highlight of this collaboration was an online webinar CCBR created and delivered entitled Community Engagement and Trust.

KDE Hub is a knowledge partner for Public Health Agency of Canada's Youth Substance Use Prevention Program (YSUPP). The YSUPP uses a collaborative approach to build protective factors that promote overall health and well-being and prevent substance use harms among youth. The program is based on the Icelandic Prevention Model (IPM), which is recognized internationally for its collaborative approach to preventing substance use harms among youth. The YSUPP aims to build capacity in communities to implement an upstream youth substance use prevention model that follows the guiding principles and key steps of the IPM, supports the Canadian implementation of the IPM and supports knowledge development and exchange based on evaluation of the IPM in the Canadian context. The KDE Hub serves the YSUPP by building the capacity of community-based projects, leading a pan-Canadian Community of Practice, and capturing the Canadian experience and adoption of the IPM.
