Projects

CCBR typically has 15-20 ongoing projects and has completed over 500 projects since 1982. Each project is guided by our commitment to impacting social change in practical and powerful ways. We conduct research with people not on people, cultivating respect with communities at every step of the process.

Projects can be searched for using words from the project title or using the service area, theme, or date range for the project. You can also type 'Service Area' or 'Theme' into the search bar to get a list of options in each of these fields.

CCBR partnered with University of Toronto faculty, Dr Rishi Krishnamoorthy and their team, to co-design and facilitate cellphilm workshops (short videos made on a phone) with South Asian high-school aged youth on their experiences as science learners. As part of workshops, high school youth were asked to create videos on what makes science learning easy or hard. They will also be invited to reflect on their identities (e.g., gender, sexuality, migration history, etc.).

The cellphilms were eventually used for professional development workshops for teaches, with the end goal of decreasing educational barriers for South Asian youth in sciences. Over 6 months CCBR:

    • providede coaching on cellphilm methodology – including fit for research questions, and unique ethical issues
    • co-designd cellphilm workshops, including in-person and online sessions
    • co-facilitated workshops with University of Toronto researchers and graduate assistants.

The South Asian Youth Learning in Science project was funded by the Connaught Research Fund, an internal fund to the University of Toronto.
